Hezbollah vows to keep fighters against takfiri terrorists in Syria

Lebanon’s resistance movement, Hezbollah, says it stands firm in its fight against Takfiri militant groups operating in Syria.

Hassan Fadlallah, a parliamentarian representing the Lebanese resistance movement, said on Sunday that Hezbollah’s defense strategy would not be swayed by concerns over negotiations or consensus, the Lebanese newspaper, The Daily Star, reported.

“The resistance is at the forefront of defending its country, people, towns and villages…[against] the threat of Takfiri groups,” he said, adding that the movement “would not wait for local or defensive strategies nor would [it wait] for agreements or consensus because when we are subject to attack, occupation and killing, no strategies would do.”

Fadlallah further said the wave of Takfiri groups in Iraq and Syria is part of a common arrangement that also targets Lebanon.

He underlined that Hezbollah’s intervention in Syria prevented the Takfiri terrorists from moving into Lebanon to occupy the country.

In March, Hezbollah’s Secretary General Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah said Takfiri militants would have eliminated all the Lebanese if fighters of the resistance movement had not gone to war in Syria.

Hezbollah deputy Secretary General Sheikh Naim Qassem said in May that the movement must continue in its battle against the extremist groups in Syria as there is a plot to defeat the neighboring country and thus the resistance front.

Over the past months, the Syrian army, backed by Hezbollah resistance fighters, has managed to make major gains in its fight against foreign-backed Takfiri terrorists that have been operating to topple the government of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad since March 2011.

The Western powers and their regional allies — especially Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey — have been supporting the militants operating inside Syria, according to reports.
