More than 6 million Zaireen have reached Karbala in Iraq to commemorate Ashura at the holy shrine of Imam Hussain (AS).
The holy shrines of Hazrat Abbas and other martyrs of Karbala are also situated in Karbala. Shiites and other lovers of Imam Hussain (AS) from all over the world reach Karbala in massive numbers on Ashura and chehlum every year.
Clad in black suits, Shiites and other azadars mourn the anniversary of martyrs of Karbala during Moharram and Safar every year.
Latest reports from Karbala said that heavy security arrangements have been made and additional security forces were deployed to control the situation.
Shiites are beating their chest and raising slogans of Ya Hussain (AS) to mourn the anniversary. They are also lifting alams (flags). The area of Bain ul Haramain (between the shrines of Imam Hussain-AS and Hazrat Abbas-AS) is full of Shia Muslims and other azadars. Basim Karbalai and other Noha Khwans are reciting Nohas in Arabic.
Renowned Shiite leaders Ammaar al Hakim and Muqtada Sadr are also observing Ashura in Karbala.
Grand Ayatollah Ali Hussaini Sistani is in Najaf where too, millions of Shiites have gathered to commemorate the anniversary at the holy shrine of Imam Ali (AS). Multitudes of azadars have reached Kazmain to observe Ashura at the shrine of Imam Moosa Kazim (AS) and Imam Mohammad Taqi Jawad (AS). Rush of people is also seen at Samarra where shrines of Imam Ali Naqi al Hadi (AS) and Imam Hassan Askari (AS) are situated.
However, a vast majority and countless azadars have gathered in Karbala as per Shiite tradition. Karbala is reverberating with the slogans of Ya Hussain (AS) being chanted by over 60 million Shiites.
