Peshmerga forces killed 300 ISIS elements, should be provided with arms, says Kirkuk governor

On Monday, governor of Kirkuk, Najm al-Din Karim asked the federal government to provide adequate reinforcement for the Kurdish Peshmerga forces, stressing the need for continual air cover by the international coalition, emphasizing that the Peshmerga forces had foiled an ISIS attack on Kirkuk, killing 300 elements of the terrorist group.

Karim said in an interview followed by IraqiNews.com, “Peshmerga forces proved it could protect the honor of the Kirkuk people,” arguing that, “The federal government needs to provide adequate reinforcement for the Peshmerga forces, and the continual air cover by the US-led international coalition had a major impact in foiling the ISIS attack on the province.”

Karim added,”The Peshmerga managed to purge a number of sites, villages, and the Khabbaz oilfield, liberating 24 of its employees who were detained by the terrorist organization,” asserting that, “Peshmerga also managed to kill 300 ISIS elements.”
