Banned terrorist outfit ASWJ registered under new name for Elections 2018
The Election Commission of Pakistan has failed to ensure enforcement of ban on the outlawed ASWJ (Sipah-e-Sahaba/Lashkar-e-Jhangvi), the mother of all terrorism, as ECP itself registered them under new name of Raah-e-Haq Party. Pakistani laws say no banned/outlawed organization will be allowed to work under any new name.
As many as 67 political and religio-political parties have been named in new list of eligible parties for 2018 Elections and among them Raah-e-Haq Party is renamed version of banned Sipah-e-Sahaba, mother wing of outlawed Lashkar-e-Jhangvi that also calls itself ASWJ.
The registration of mother of all terrorism under new name is a flagrant violation of the Constitution of Pakistani and counterterrorism laws. Law-abiding and peace loving Pakistanis are dismayed over this development but none from human rights bodies and civil society has come forward to challenge this violation of law and ethics.
