Shia pilgrims stage sit-in to protest against their forced stay at Taftan border

Shia Zaireen had to stage a sit-in to register protest against their forced stay at the Taftan border on return from pilgrimage of sacred shrines of infallible Imams of Shia Islam in Iran and Iraq.

More than 5500 Shia pilgrims have been denied permission and security convoys for travelling back to their native towns via Quetta. They are stuck at Taftan, a town on the Pakistan’s border with Iran. Due to multiple problems, they have to face at the backward town of Taftan, they began staging sit-in against the unjustifiable policy of the government and security forces vis-à-vis Shia pilgrims.
They also blocked roads and complained that Pakistan House where they were staying lacked needed essential facilities and there was no concrete reason behind their forced stay in Taftan.
Assistant Commissioner Taftan Zafar Kabdani held talks with the protesting Zaireen and assured needed action would be taken on their complaints. On that assurance, the protesters ended their 3-day long sit-in.
