Grand Shia Cleric Stresses Shia, Sunni Seminaries Unity

Top Shia cleric met with the new representative of jurisprudence in Kurdistan Privince and stresses the need for progress in Shia-Sunni seminaries in this area.

Newly appointed representative of jurisprudence in the Western province of Kurdistan, Hujjatul Islam Syed Mohammad Husseini Shahroudi met with top Shia jurisprudence, Ayatollah Nasser Makarim Shirazi.

Senior Shia cleric expressed his pleasure over the appointment of Hujjatul Islam Seyyed Mohammad Husseini Shahroudi as the jurisprudence’s deputy in the great Islamic center in the West of the country.

Ayatollah Nasser Makarim Shirazi highlighted the need for progress in the activities of Shia seminaries in the Province of Kurdistan and asked for more unity between the two main denominations of Islam.

In a decree issued on January 4, 2011, Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei appointed Hujjatul Islam Seyyed Mohammad Husseini Shahroudi as the jurisprudence representative in the Western Iran Sunni-dominated province of Kurdistan.
