Allama Mazhar Abbas Alvi, incharge of Hajj and Ziarat section of Shia Ulema Council Pakistan, has warned the rulers that they would not be able to travel anywhere inside Pakistan if they continue to stop the Shia pilgrims in Taftan town on border with Iran.

He said that Shia pilgrims are being stopped in Taftan town when they go to or come from Iran/Iraq where they go to pilgrimage of sacred shrine of infallible Imams. He said that presently, multitudes of pilgrims have been under compulsion to stay in Taftan because the security officials don’t allow them to move. He demanded of the government to abandon this policy against the Shia pilgrims.
Allama Alvi said that hundreds of pilgrims had gathered in Taftan for many days. Many of them have legal travelling documents to go to Iran and Iraq via Iran for the pilgrimage. He said that many have returned from pilgrimage.
He demanded of the government to provide security convoy to those returned from pilgrimage so that they could go to their hometowns via Quetta.
SUC vice president Alvi also demanded that biased policy towards Shia pilgrims must be withdrawn forthwith because all Pakistanis who have legal travelling documents enjoy right of freedom to travel.
