Parachinar suicide bombings martyrs laid to rest

The martyrs of twin suicide blasts which struck a busy market in shia populated Parachinar have been laid to rest. Markets in Parachinar remained closed on Saturday as three days of mourning are being observed on the call of Majlis-e-Wehdatul Muslimeen (MWM) and other shia organizations.

At least 57 people were martyred in Friday night’s twin suicide blasts in a market of Parachinar were around 400 people were busy shopping for Iftar. According to the Riaz Mehsud, the political agent on Kurrum Agency, one suicide bomber blew himself up in one corner of the bazaar and a minute later the second bomber carried out the attack in another corner.
A Parachinar resident Amjad Hussain said a large number of tribesmen were busy shopping mostly for eatables for breaking their fast when the blast took place. “I saw people running for their lives when the first blast took place in one corner of the bazaar. Just then another blast occurred. The next thing I saw were human bodies and the injured lying all over the place,” he recalled. He said the local people shifted the injured to the hospital on self-help basis.
Another local tribesman, Gulfat Hussain said many people died before they could be shifted to hospital due to lack of immediate medical care. “Announcements were made from loudspeakers in the mosques appealing to the people to come to hospital and donate blood for the injured people,” he said.
Allama Syed Ali al-Hussaini son of Shaheed Quaid Allama Arif Hussain al-Hussaini alongwith other Shiite Clerics visited the local hospital of Parachinar and inquired about the health of injureds.
