Iraq: prominent ISIS Leader Killed Near Mosul

Kurdish Counter-terrorism forces have confirmed the death of a senior ISIS militants and two other terrorists in northern Iraq.

Directorate General of Counter Terrorism (CTD), part and parcel of Kurdistan Region Security Council (KRSC) released a statement late on Wednesday reporting that Ali al-Aswad, Head of IS Intelligence Affairs, was killed near Tel Azab village, south of Mosul.

The statement explains that after Kurdish counter-terrorism forces gathered intelligence, US-led coalition jets carried out airstrikes on the position and killed Aswad alongside two other terrorists.

The two other killed militants are identified as Abu Abdulrahman, Aswad’s deputy, and Qusai al-Rawi, IS-appointed manager of Dibis district.

Aswad had reportedly been a close figure to IS leader Abubakir al-Baghdadi and his death will further affect the terrorists group.
