Alleged CIA Anti-Shia Plan Revealed: Claim of Hijacking Mourning Rituals and Allocating Millions of Dollars
Shiite News: An interview with Dr. Michael Brent, described as a key member of the CIA’s Shia affairs division, allegedly reveals that the United States allocated a multimillion-dollar budget to target Shia mourning rituals, including Majalis-e-Aza. According to the interview, the alleged objective was to influence religious gatherings and reciters, weaken Shia beliefs, promote sectarian divisions, and ultimately facilitate attacks on the Shia community by extremist groups.
Dr. Brent reportedly said that the first stage would involve identifying Shia individuals who were allegedly self-interested, religiously vulnerable and influential, and then using them to interfere in mourning practices. According to the reported plan, reciters unfamiliar with Shia beliefs would be promoted, writings attacking Shia religious authorities and scholarly institutions would be encouraged, controversial practices would allegedly be introduced into mourning ceremonies, and Shia Islam would be portrayed as an ignorant or superstitious religion. The stated purpose, according to the report, was to create hatred, division and disorder within Shia society, eventually leaving the community vulnerable to armed extremist groups.
