Georgia’s President will participate in the funeral rites, while Cuba will be represented by its Higher Education Minister and a senior Foreign Ministry official.

India has dispatched a special delegation headed by retired Lieutenant General Syed Ata Hasnain, accompanied by Minister of State for External Affairs Pabitra Margherita.

China will also send high-level representatives.

Tajikistan’s President Emomali Rahmon will also attend the official event.

Iranian Deputy Interior Minister Ali Akbar Pourjamshidian, head of the funeral organizing headquarters, said that more than 30 countries and religious leaders from over 90 nations have confirmed their attendance.

The multi-day funeral, expected to draw between 15 and 20 million mourners in what officials say will be the largest funeral in the country’s history, will begin on Saturday with the body lying in state at Tehran’s Grand Mosalla prayer complex.

The ceremonies will continue through Monday with a funeral procession along a 10-kilometer route, followed by rites in the holy city of Qom on July 7, Iraq on July 8 and burial in Mashhad on July 9.

The ceremonies will also extend to Iraq, where condolence rites will be held in Baghdad, Karbala and Najaf.

Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi recently visited Baghdad to coordinate the arrangements.

Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, Iran’s leader since 1989, was assassinated at the age of 86 at his compound in central Tehran on February 28, the first day of the US-Israeli war of aggression against Iran.

The strike, part of a coordinated US-Israeli war of aggression, also killed several of his relatives.

His son, Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei, was subsequently elected as the new Islamic Revolution Leader by the Assembly of Experts in March.
