Renowned Scholar, Researcher and Teacher Maulana Muhammad Siyyadat Naqvi Passes Away

Shiite News: The news of the passing of renowned religious scholar, researcher, and teacher Maulana Muhammad Siyyadat Naqvi has left scholars, students, associates of Darul Uloom, and admirers of Urdu and religious literature deeply grieved.

He devoted his life to education, teaching, research, writing, and religious services. Born on November 6, 1942, in Shafaat Pota, Amroha, Maulana Naqvi passed the Alim and Fazil examinations from Darul Uloom Syed-ul-Madaris. He later earned an MA in Urdu from Aligarh Muslim University and a PhD from Rohilkhand University for his research on “Ali Nazar: Life and Poetry.”

Known for his broad intellectual outlook, Maulana Naqvi was more than a religious scholar. He was also a teacher and author with deep knowledge of the Urdu language and literature, philosophy, and Islamic thought.

He was appointed as a teacher at Imam-ul-Madaris College in 1964 and became a professor of Urdu at Jagdish Saran Hindu Degree College in 1973. From 1987 to 2003, he served as Head of the Urdu Department.

In recognition of his administrative and religious capabilities, he was also appointed Imam of Friday prayers at Ashraf-ul-Masajid in 1989 and was selected as the Mutawalli (administrator/trustee) of Darul Uloom Syed-ul-Madaris.

An important aspect of Maulana Muhammad Siyyadat Naqvi’s scholarly legacy was his valuable literary work. His prominent books include “The Islamic Concept of Justice in the Light of Nahj al-Balagha,” “Nasim Amrohvi: An Introduction,” “Gufteh-e-Ghalib,” “Islam, Socialism and Capitalism,” “The Concept of the System of Ownership,” “Styles of Supplication: In the Context of Quranic Verses,” and “Farhang-e-Maraasi-e-Dabeer.”

His intellectual interests extended from Islamic thought to Urdu literature and the tradition of marsiya poetry. Beyond his published works, one of the greatest legacies of his long scholarly career was the countless students he taught and mentored.

His death is being described as a major loss to the scholarly community, an irreplaceable void for his students, and a profound tragedy for his family.

Condolences have been extended to his sons, Maulana Syed Ahsan Akhtar Suroosh and Syed Hussain, as well as all members of his family, academic colleagues, and associates.

Prayers have been offered for Allah Almighty to forgive the deceased, accept his scholarly and religious services, and grant patience and reward to his bereaved family.
