CTD Intelligence-Based Operation: Two Suspected Lashkar-e-Jhangvi Militants Killed

Shiite News: The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) Mardan Region killed two suspected militants during an intelligence-based operation in the Baboozi mountainous area of Katlang after an exchange of fire. Other suspected militants reportedly escaped under the cover of darkness.

According to the CTD, it had received credible intelligence that a group of suspected militants affiliated with the banned Lashkar-e-Jhangvi was present in the mountainous region of Katlang and was allegedly planning a terrorist attack after descending from the mountains.

Based on the intelligence, CTD Mardan Region’s Swat teams launched an operation in the Baboozi mountainous area.

When CTD personnel reached the location, the suspected militants allegedly opened fire while attempting to flee toward the mountains. CTD personnel responded, leading to an exchange of fire.

Following the exchange, two suspected militants were found dead during a search operation. Officials said two SMGs, a hand grenade, six magazines, and several rounds of ammunition were recovered from their possession.

The CTD said the identification process of the two deceased suspects is underway. Additional personnel have arrived in the area to apprehend those who escaped, while the search operation continues.

Authorities said further investigations are also underway to trace the facilitators and support network of the fleeing suspects.
