Lebanese government must show it can expel Israeli occupiers: Lawmaker

Lebanese lawmaker Hassan Fadlallah says the government must demonstrate its ability to expel the occupation forces and protect the sovereignty of the Arab country, after the Israeli regime said it intends to remain in southern Lebanon beyond a 60-day deadline stipulated in a ceasefire deal with Hezbollah.

“Hezbollah is giving the state the opportunity to fulfill its duties, but it must demonstrate its ability to expel the occupation, prevent further attacks, secure the release of prisoners, rebuild, and protect sovereignty,” Fadlallah said on Sunday.

He said, “True patriotism and loyalty to Lebanon are reflected in one’s commitment to South Lebanon’s sacred cause.”
