LB polls: Banned parties could not take part in elections

ISLAMABAD – Chief Election Commissioner Syed Tahir Ali Shah has said that all banned parties have been told that their candidates would not be allowed to take part in elections on their behalf.

Talking to media, he said that even the flag of any banned outfit could not used in the election. The names of these banned outfits, who could not take part in the elections, included Saudi-funded Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat (ASWJ), Lashkar-e-Jhangvi, Tehrek-e-Talban, Islami Tehreck, Anjuman-e-Imamia and Sipah-e-Muhammad.

He said that candidates belonging to banned outfits could contest independently but without using the flags of any banned party.
