Israeli army reported severe injury to a soldier as bullet hit his head in a military base located in the Jordan Valley on Tuesday night.

According to Jerusalem Post, the army evacuated its soldier to the hospital for medical treatment, and informed his family of the incident.

The incident took place at the Tevetz base in the Jordan Valley, where Israeli troops maintain routine security activity.

However, they considered injuries this serious highly unusual.

The soldier was reportedly found unconscious at 10:15 p.m. (Palestinian time) and in a secluded part of the base.

It might have an attempt on part of Israeli soldier to commit suicide because of this tendency prevails among them.

An IDF paramedic administered life-saving treatment on the scene before the soldier was evacuated to the Hadassah Hospital in Jerusalem.

Initially, Israeli military suspected that the soldier had suffered the head injury from a rock thrown at him.

But after having him examined at the hospital, doctors found signs indicating a bullet wound that caused the injury. The soldier is currently undergoing surgery.

The IDF has opened an investigation surrounding the circumstances that led to the incident.

Besides, it is pursuing all possible leads that could explain the unusual incident.

Meanwhile, Palestinians apprehend Israel may cover up this attempted suicide and use it a pretext to attack Palestinians.
