Iran proposes banking branches on Taftan border to prevent illegal trade. Iranian Consul General in Quetta floated this idea at a reception.
Iranian Consul General Mohammad Rafiee was speaking at a reception. The Quetta Chamber of Commerce and Industry (QCCI) hosted the event in his honour.

He urged Pakistani officials to open banking branches on border areas with Iran. He highlighted importance of such facilities tp prevent illegal trade from the Taftan border.

The diplomat complained that absence of banking branches on border areas encouraged illegal trade between Pakistan and Iran.

Most importantly, he stressed the need for effective banking facilities at the border.

Furthermore, Rafiee cited the agreement which Pakistan and Iran already signed to enhance level of bilateral trade in different sectors.

However, he also lamented non-implementation of those agreements in this regard so far.

National Assembly Deputy Speaker Qasim Khan Suri, QCCI president Wali Mohammad, Quetta Chamber of Small Traders and Small Industry president Jumma Badezai and other members also attended the reception.
