Moharram begins with Shia Muslims commemorating martyrs of Karbala

muhramThe first month of Islamic calendar begins with Shia Muslims commemorating the sacrifices of the martyrs of Karbala.
Annual azadari (mourning) will continue in all over the world till 8th of Rabi ul Awwal, third month of Islamic calendar.

Shiite News Correspondent reported here that Shia Muslims began wearing black suits. Back flags are being hoisted on houses and Imam Bargahs. Majalis (mourning congregations) are being held where religious scholars are highlighting the sacrifices of Imam Hussain-AS-led martyrs of Karbala.

Tasua (9th Moharram) and Ashura (10th of Moharram) will witness worldwide mourning ceremonies and processions in which noha khwan will recite nohas to pay homage to the martyrs of Karbala.

The first Friday during Moharram will be observed as Sheer Khwaran-e-Hussaini (AS) Day. That day, mothers will carry their infants to the mourning congregations to show respect for Hazrat Ali Asghar (AS), the infant of Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS) who was martyred in an arrow attack in Karbala.

In the sub-continent Pakistan and India, sacrifices of Hazrat Abbas are commemorated on 8th Moharram. Shia Muslims remember the great martyrs of Islam, the martyrs of Karbala among them were the relatives and comrades of Imam Hussain (AS) during the sacred month of Moharram.
