ISIL executes 17 people in eastern, northern Syria

The ISIL Takfiri militants have executed at least 17 men in recent days in eastern and northern Syria.

The ISIL terrorists have executed 16 men in the eastern city of Deir Ezzor and one more in the northern city of Raqqa after the killing of 12 Syrian, Iraqi and Algerian militants, the so-called Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said on Friday.

He added that the men have been accused of battling ISIL.

The observatory said that ISIL “is sending a message to all people living under its control, to say: ‘This is what will happen to any opponent.’”

Most parts of Raqqa and the oil-rich Deir Ezzor provinces are under the ISIL control.

ISIL, with members from several Western countries including Canada, France, Australia and Germany, controls parts of Syria and Iraq, and has been carrying out horrific acts of violence such as public decapitations and crucifixions against all communities including Shias, Sunnis, Kurds, and Christians.

Over 200,000 people have been killed in the crisis in Syria over the past nearly four years, according to reports. New figures show that over 76,000 people, including thousands of children, lost their lives in Syria last year alone.
