Iraq clears den of MKO terrorists at Camp Ashraf

iraq borderIraqi officials have announced they cleared the Camp Ashraf in eastern Iraqi province of Diyala of anti-Iran terrorists known as Mojahedin-e-Khalq Organization (MKO).

The remnants of MKO terrorists have been moved from the Camp Ashraf to another camp near the capital city of Baghdad, al-Khalis Governor Odei Khadhran told al-Alam.

There were 40 elements, who insisted to remain in the unpopular camp after the last week’s clashes, Khadhran said, adding that Iraqi officials decided to clear the camp from any terrorist.

The MKO grouplet have possessed the Camp Ashraf for three decades despite Iraqi civilians’ disagreement to their presence, he noted.

The MKO elements have been enlisted in the US list of terrorist organizations. They also hatched several terrorist attacks in and out of Iran against Iranian officials and civilians.

Al-Khalis citizens, who have suffered much from their presence because of the terrorists’ role in killing and suppressing Iraqi civilians under the former regime, are pleased with the efforts made to clear the camp, the Iraqi official added.

The Iraqi government pulled out over 3000 MKO elements from the Camp Ashraf in a full compliance with the United Nations.
