An international conference titled â€œImam Zaman (AS) and the Future of the Worldâ€ opened in the Iraqi holy city of Najaf on Tuesday, May 21.
A number of top Muslim scholars and figures from different Islamic schools of thought are present in the international conference, Furat news agency reported.
It has been organized by the Kufa Universityâ€™s Faculty of Fiqh in cooperation with the World Ahl-ul-Bayt (AS) Assembly and the Center for Mahdism Studies.
Muhammad Bahiya, member of the organizing committee said Muslim figures from different Islamic school of thought from Iraq and other Arab and Islamic countries have been invited to the conference.
He said the conference will run for three days and some 60 papers are presented at the event.
He noted that on the sidelines of the conference a book exhibition is underway featuring books in English, Arabic and Persian about the Seerah of Hazrat Mahdi (may God hasten his glad advent).
Bahiya added that providing a venue for representatives of all Islamic schools of thought to exchange ideas about Imam Zamanâ€™s (AS) reappearance were among the objectives of the event.
Tehranâ€™s interim Friday prayer leader Ayatollah Mohammad Emami-Kashani was one of the speakers on the first day of the international conference who said in a speech that following Imam Zaman (may God hasten his glad advent) is the same as following the Holy prophet (PBUH).
