KARBALA, Iraq: Five men involved in launching the Katyusha rockets that hit Shiite pilgrims in Karbala city yesterday were all captured, a local security source said on Wednesday.â€œThe arrests occurred less than one hour after the attack,â€ the security source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.
He explained that eight launching pads, four of them ready to use, were seized during the arrest operation.
Earlier, a media medical source said that the toll of casualties caused by yesterdayâ€™s rocket attack on Karbala city has reached seven dead and 46 injuries.
â€œOne woman is among the dead,â€ the media medical source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.
He noted that 10 women are among the injuries.
But a local medical source said that six people were killed and 30 others wounded when two rockets hit the area near the Imam Hussein Shrine, central Karbala city.
â€œThe attack occurred Tuesday (July 27) evening when the two rockets fell only 1 km from the shrine,â€ the local medical source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.
The holy city of Karbala lies 110 km southwest of Baghdad.
