Iran’s response to make enemies regret acts: Iran’s Defense Minister

Iran’s Defense Minister Brigadier General Hossein Dehqan says the Islamic Republic’s response to any possible move by enemies will make them regret their acts.

“The topic of deterrence means that our enemies should not allow themselves to carry out any move against the Islamic Republic, and if they make a move, we should make a move in return to make them regret repeating or continuing their act,” Dehqan said on Monday.

He emphasized that Iran’s military doctrine is based on defense and noted that the country has never pursued an aggressive approach in its structures and equipment.

The defense minister said Iran currently enjoys acceptable security and stability in the region and added that the Armed Forces would maintain their deterrent power in dealing with threats and defeat any move against the country.

Iran’s Defense Ministry is capable of meeting any possible defense requirement of the country through a completely domestic and wise approach, Dehqan said, adding that the ministry has the ability to counter threats at the shortest time.

“The capabilities of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s Armed Forces are merely defensive and serve regional peace, stability and security and [the country’s] defense diplomacy is playing its role in this regard in an active and dynamic way,” the defense minister pointed out.

He warned that hegemonic powers always seek to confine Iran to its geographical borders and to marginalize it in the international community.

The Islamic Republic has repeatedly said that its military might poses no threat to other countries, reiterating that its defense doctrine is merely based on deterrence.
