Massive Karachi Rally Condemns Arrests of Shia Scholars in Bahrain
Passionate Protest in Karachi Against Alleged Anti-Shia Oppression in Bahrain and Dubai, Anger Against “Oppressive Regimes” Grows
According to ShiiteNews, people took to the streets in Karachi to protest against the arrests of Shia scholars in Bahrain and the forced deportation of Shia activists from the United Arab Emirates. A large protest gathering was organized by Shiaan-e-Haider Karrar Pakistan at Khorasan Road, Soldier Bazaar, Karachi.
The purpose of the protest was to raise a voice against the detention of Shia clerics in Bahrain and the forced expulsion of Shia Muslims from Dubai and other parts of the UAE.
Speakers at the protest included Maulana Mirza Tahir Habib, Maulana Agha Mehdi Abbas Turabi, Maulana Mukhtar Ali, Brother Naushad Ali, Nasir Al-Hussaini, and Saqib Raza Saqib. The speakers stated that these actions reflected the “panic and frustration” of oppressive regimes. They claimed that recent developments and successes linked to Iran had caused hostile powers to fear the growing influence of what they described as the “true religion.”
The speakers further alleged that US-backed Gulf and Arab monarchies had entered a phase of decline. Protest participants also demanded that the Government of Pakistan raise the issue diplomatically with Bahrain and the UAE over alleged human rights violations. The event concluded with poetry by Ahlul Bayt poet Saqib Raza Saqib in support of the oppressed and against oppression.
