Zambia Shia Muslims Commemorate Arbaeen Mourning Ceremony

zambiaOn the occasion of Arbaeen (40th day after Ashura), a mourning ceremony was held by Iran Cultural Center at Imam Reza (AS) Mosque in Lusaka, Zambia.The ceremony was held for three nights on January 21, 22 and 24 with the presence of Shia citizens of the country as well as Shia Muslims from Lebanon, India, Pakistan and some other countries residing in Zambia.

The status of Arbaeen in hadiths and religious narrations and the effects of praying for 40 faithful Muslims at midnight prayer were explained by Hojat-ol-Islam Saberi who presented a speech at the programs explaining the meaning of the verse 142 of Surah A’raf.

The scholar also clarified the issue from a historical perspective and talked about the life of Jaber ibn Abdullah Ansari, the first pilgrim of Imam Hussein (AS), regarding him as one the most honest followers of Ahlul Bayt (AS).

He further discussed the lofty status of pilgrimage in traditions of Ahlul Bayt (AS) and mentioned some of the characteristics of a real pilgrim.

Arbaeen Supplication was also recited at the programs and its various concepts were explained for the participants.
