Only four convoys of Shia pilgrims allowed to cross Pak-Iran borders on Arbaeen

Shia Muslims have turned down the Balochistan government’s policy to limit the pilgrims (Zaireen) who are willing to go on pilgrimage to Iraq via Iran from Pakistan to participate in the Arbaeen walk. The Balochistan government has said that no more than four convoys would be allowed this year.

This policy statement has angered Shia Muslims who said that it was unfair that takfiri terrorists were allowed freedom in Quetta and elsewhere and Shia Muslims are denied their right to cross Taftan border to enter Iran from Pakistan despite the fact they have due legal documents to do so. They said that government and security forces have failed to eliminate terrorists and put the onus on the innocent Shia pilgrims to cover up their failure.
They said that Balochistan government must allow all Shia pilgrims to safely cross the Taftan border to go to Iraq for pilgrimage via Iran.
Shia Muslims commemorate the anniversary of 40th day (Arbaeen or Chehlum) of the martyrdoms of martyrs of Karbala led by Imam Hussain (AS) on the 20th Safar every year according to Islamic lunar calendar. They participate in Arbaeen Walk that means they walk from Najaf to Karbala to pay homage to Imam Hussain (AS) and his loyal companions.
