A car bomb exploded in the Syrian city of Homs on Tuesday and the army destroyed another vehicle rigged with explosives near the holy shrine of Hazrat Zeinab, the granddaughter of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), south of Damascus, Syrian state television said.

A correspondent for Syrian state television in Homs said the blast killed two and injured fifteen, Reuters reported.

No casualties have been reported from the explosion near Hazrat Zeinab shrine, but state media said the car contained two individuals when it was destroyed.

The latest developments came after the last batch of terrorists were transported out of al-Waer neighborhood in Homs as part of a reconciliation deal between the government and the militants.

Over the past six years, Syria has been fighting foreign-sponsored militancy. UN Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura estimated in August that more than 400,000 people had been killed in the Syrian crisis until then. The UN has stopped its official casualty count in Syria, citing its inability to verify the figures it receives from various sources.
