Vatican Ambassador Meets Grand Ayatollah Bashir Najafi, Emphasis on Global Peace and Peaceful Coexistence
Shiite News: Grand Ayatollah Al-Haj Hafiz Bashir Hussain Najafi (may his authority endure) received Monsignor Miroslaw Stanislaw Wachowski, the Pope’s representative to the Republic of Iraq and Vatican Ambassador, at his central office.
The delegation also included Patriarch Paul III Nouna, head of the Chaldean Christian community in Iraq and around the world, along with a high-level delegation that held a special meeting with the Marja.
During the important meeting, the participants discussed a range of humanitarian and social issues, with particular emphasis on promoting love, tolerance and peaceful coexistence among followers of all religions. In view of the devastating wars and conflicts continuing around the world, the meeting placed special emphasis on the sanctity of human life, protection of civilians’ rights, and the need to establish an environment of peace and stability worldwide.
Grand Ayatollah Bashir Najafi and the distinguished guests also agreed on the importance of strengthening shared human values and promoting mutual understanding among different communities. The religious leaders stressed that genuine peace in society can only be achieved through continuous dialogue and mutual respect, ensuring the dignity, honor and fundamental rights of every individual.

Later, the high-level Vatican delegation also held a special meeting with Hujjat-ul-Islam wal-Muslimeen Sheikh Ali Najafi, son of the Grand Ayatollah and director of his central office. The meeting highlighted the importance of brotherhood among the Iraqi people, civic responsibility, national belonging and sustained communication among religious leaderships to preserve Iraq’s diverse social fabric and national unity.
