CTD Conducts 419 Operations, Arrests 54 Suspected LeJ and SSP Militants

CTD Reports Major Success: 419 Operations in Two Months, 54 Militants Linked to Banned Lashkar-e-Jhangvi and Sipah-e-Sahaba Arrested

Shiite News: The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) has continued its operations against militants associated with the banned organizations Lashkar-e-Jhangvi (LeJ) and Sipah-e-Sahaba Pakistan (SSP). Over the past two months, CTD conducted 419 intelligence-based operations across multiple cities, arresting 54 suspected militants, including five alleged agents of India’s Research and Analysis Wing (RAW).

According to a CTD spokesperson, the operations were carried out in Lahore, Faisalabad, Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Jhelum, and several other cities. The spokesperson stated that five alleged RAW agents were arrested along with explosive materials. Suspected members of the banned Lashkar-e-Jhangvi and Sipah-e-Sahaba, identified as Waris, Nasr, Munawar, Zahid, and Inamullah, are also under investigation following their arrests.

Authorities said they recovered explosive materials, 12 improvised explosive devices (IEDs), 42 detonators, 98 feet of safety fuse wire, banned stickers, books, and cash from the suspects. According to the CTD, the suspects were allegedly planning activities intended to spread fear among the public.

The spokesperson further stated that during the past two months, CTD conducted 13,572 combing operations, detained 1,193 suspects, and questioned 494,642 individuals. The department said these operations demonstrate the continued efforts of security forces to dismantle networks associated with banned organizations.
