Mufti Syed Ashiq Hussain: Martyred Leader Was a Martyr of the Ummah and a Great Guide for Humanity

Shiite News: During his visit to Iran and participation in the funeral procession of the martyred leader, the Friday prayer leader of Jamia Syeda Fatimatuz Zahra (SA), Director General of Jamia Zainabia named after Sayyida Zainab (SA), Jamia Banat-ul-Islam, and head of Jamia Bait-ul-Quran for Students, Mufti Syed Ashiq Hussain, shared his reflections in an interview with a Hoza News correspondent.

He expressed his gratitude to Allama Syed Iftikhar Hussain Naqvi, Chairman of Imam Khomeini Trust, Shahid Rais, and Agha Ali Asghar Masoudi, Director General of Iran’s Khaneh Farhang, whose efforts enabled him to participate in what he described as a historic occasion.

Mufti Syed Ashiq Hussain said that from the moment he arrived at Tehran Airport and throughout his travels in Tehran, Qom, and other cities, he witnessed extraordinary affection, respect, and hospitality from the Iranian people toward Pakistan. Whenever Iranians saw him wearing traditional Pakistani attire, they welcomed him warmly, chanting slogans such as “Long Live Pakistan-Iran Friendship” and “Pakistan and Iran Are Brothers.”

He stated that the martyrdom of the Supreme Leader was not only a tragedy for Iran but also a profound loss for the entire Muslim Ummah and humanity. According to him, the martyred leader was a martyr of the Ummah of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) and a great guide for humanity whose steadfastness played a historic role in defending the sanctities of the Muslim world.

Referring to the recent conflict, Mufti Ashiq Hussain said that the head of the Zionist government had claimed during the war that Iran was the main obstacle in its path and that, if Iran were defeated, the next targets would be Makkah and Madinah. He added that Iran’s determination and resilience thwarted those objectives.

He further remarked that the participation of Pakistan’s high-level delegation in the funeral—including Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, former Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, and Federal Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Naqvi—demonstrated that Pakistan and Iran stand together in times of sorrow and solidarity.

During his eight-day stay, Mufti Ashiq Hussain met Ayatollah Alireza Arafi, head of the Qom Seminary, his associates, scholars from Qom University, and personalities affiliated with Imam Khomeini’s institutions. He noted that discussions focusing on unity, mutual respect, and harmony between Sunni and Shia Muslims were highly encouraging and commendable.

He also said that during the funeral prayer, attended by hundreds of thousands of mourners, he was honored to represent Pakistan and was given a place in the front rows alongside scholars, ambassadors, and distinguished personalities from various countries. He described this recognition as a reflection of the strong relationship between Pakistan and Iran.

The head of Jamia Bait-ul-Quran for Students further stated that the affection and respect he received in Iran reflected the strength of Pakistan’s foreign policy and the brotherly ties between the two nations. He emphasized that the Iranian people’s spirit of sacrifice, love of martyrdom, courage, and resilience constitutes their greatest strength and enables them to endure every challenge.

Praising the hospitality of the Iranian people, he observed that young people, elders, women, and children volunteered to distribute water, food, and essential supplies to participants throughout the funeral procession. He also commended the Iranian government’s arrangements, including sound systems and public facilities, describing them as exemplary.

In conclusion, Mufti Syed Ashiq Hussain prayed that Allah Almighty grant Iran greater honor, stability, and success. He quoted Allama Muhammad Iqbal, saying that if Tehran were to become the Geneva of the East, it could transform the destiny of the world.
