Official Says Funeral of Iran’s Supreme Leader Drew Over 40 Million People Without Any Reported Fatalities

Shiite News: Akbar Pourjamshidian, Secretary of the Burial Committee for Iran’s late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, said the funeral ceremonies were unprecedented in scale and represented one of the largest public mourning events in history.

According to Pourjamshidian, despite extreme heat, the funeral processions and related ceremonies held in Iran and Iraq were conducted without any incidents that endangered participants’ lives.

He stated that temperatures, particularly in Iraq, exceeded 50°C, yet no deaths were recorded despite the participation of millions of people. He attributed this outcome to effective emergency response, rescue operations, and public health planning.

Pourjamshidian said emergency stations, medical centers, and field hospitals had been established in advance as part of a comprehensive operational plan. He explained that wherever large crowds gathered, emergency personnel were positioned within 10 to 20 meters to provide immediate medical assistance if needed.

He further claimed that more than 40 million people participated in the ceremonies and that no fatalities or security incidents were recorded in either Iran or Iraq during the events.
