Shiite News: Pakistan Day was celebrated across the country with national enthusiasm, marking a renewed pledge of commitment to the country.
The day began with 31-gun salute in the federal capital and 21-gun salutes in provincial capitals, while special prayers were offered in mosques after Fajr for the country’s peace and prosperity.
Due to the tense situation in the Middle East and ongoing austerity measures, the celebrations were observed with simplicity this year. The traditional parade was canceled, and the central flag-hoisting ceremony was kept modest yet dignified.
A prestigious guard changing ceremony was held at Mazar-e-Iqbal, where a smartly turned-out contingent of the Pakistan Air Force presented a march past. The PAF formally took over security responsibilities of the mausoleum from the Rangers.
The chief guest, Air Vice Marshal Muhammad Shahid Afzal, Air Officer Commanding PAF Airmen Academy Korangi Creek, laid a floral wreath at the mausoleum, offered Fateha, and recorded his impressions in the visitors’ book, highlighting the significance of Pakistan Day and reinforcing the spirit of national unity.
