Türkiye warns against foreign intervention in Iran, urges dialogue

Türkiye warned on Monday that any foreign intervention in Iran would deepen existing crises both within the country and across the wider region, urging direct negotiations between Washington and Tehran as the only viable path to de-escalation.

Omer Celik, spokesperson for Türkiye’s ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP), said Ankara firmly opposes the spread of chaos in Iran, stressing that while there may be internal social and political challenges, these must be addressed through Iran’s own mechanisms. He affirmed that “problems should be resolved through Iran’s internal dynamics and national will,” warning that foreign interference, particularly by “Israel”, would only inflame instability and exacerbate regional tensions.

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said the recent protests carried an initial message rooted in economic grievances but were later deliberately steered toward calls for regime change. He underlined that Iran’s external adversaries are actively attempting to exploit legitimate public concerns through destabilization strategies rather than allowing internal processes to unfold.

Fidan added that Türkiye is working to support a constructive agreement with Iran that would benefit all parties and contribute to regional stability, at a time when confrontation risks spiraling into wider conflict.

Covert Escalation
The Turkish statements come amid heightened tensions following repeated threats by US and Israeli officials, led by Donald Trump and Benjamin Netanyahu, to intervene militarily in Iran under the pretext of “protecting protesters,” a narrative Tehran has rejected as a cover for political and security pressure.

Against this backdrop, Iranian security authorities have announced the dismantling of a foreign espionage network linked to the Israeli intelligence service Mossad, arresting a foreign national accused of operating covertly inside the country. Iranian officials said the suspect was actively gathering sensitive intelligence as part of a broader effort by foreign services to exploit unrest through hybrid warfare tactics.

National Solidarity
Iranian authorities say that in recent days, acts of violence and sabotage, including arson attacks, killings, and the destruction of public and private property, were carried out by organized elements seeking to hijack peaceful economic protests and undermine national security. Tehran has insisted that while lawful protest remains legitimate, armed rioting and foreign-backed interference constitute red lines.

Millions of Iranians have since taken to the streets in nationwide demonstrations under banners of national solidarity, condemning the armed unrest and reaffirming support for stability, sovereignty, and state institutions. Officials say the mass mobilization reflects a clear distinction between genuine socio-economic demands and externally driven attempts at destabilization.
