27th Amendment Attacks Judiciary, Judges’ Resignations Reflect Public Sentiment,MWM
Shiite News: Central leader of Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen Pakistan, Allama Syed Baqir Abbas Zaidi, warned that the supremacy of the constitution and rule of law in the country is increasingly becoming a dream.
He described the 27th Constitutional Amendment as a serious attack on the judiciary, with the resignations of senior judges reflecting conscience and public sentiment.
He criticized the parties claiming to restore the judiciary, saying they themselves stifled these efforts.
He added that those who chant slogans of democracy and constitutional governance are, in practice, supporting authoritarianism.
While citizens face inflation, unemployment, and deprivation of basic facilities, the President and Army Chief remain focused on acquiring privileges, a situation incompatible with Islamic principles where the supreme ruler is accountable for his actions.
Allama Zaidi further stated that the rights of all citizens are equal under the Constitution, but the recent amendment will cause institutional conflict and unrest.
Parties that voted in favor of the amendment have betrayed the people and compromised their own political credibility.
He warned that the violation of democratic values is clear, with signs of monarchy emerging, and that the political cost of supporting unconstitutional amendments will be borne in the next national elections.
