Over 38 Foreign Militants Killed in Syrian Forces’ Operations in North of Lattakia

Military sources in the coastal province of Lattakia said that the Syrian forces’ operations against the militant groups in the Northern parts of the Lattakia governorate resulted in the death of 49 militants, including 38 foreign nationals.

The sources said that he Syrian Army’s Special Forces, in coordination with the Syrian Social Nationalist Party (SSNP), the National Defense Forces (NDF), and Muqawama Souri (Syrian Resistance), carried out a powerful assault against the positions of the so-called Free Syrian Army (FSA) an al-Nusra Front in the Lattakia Governorate’s Northeastern territories, resulting in the destruction of a number of armored vehicles and enemy hideouts.

The Syrian forces began their assault by targeting al-Nusra Front’s positions in Salma’s East district, killing 11 enemy combatants before they advanced to the Eastern orchards inside this city located in Northeastern Lattakia.

Following their assault in Salma, the Syrian armed forces launched a powerful assault on the FSA and Nusra’s positions inside the village of Mureij; this attack resulted in the death of 38 enemy combatants, all of whom, were reportedly foreigners from Saudi Arabia, Chechnya, Dagestan, Kuwait, Malaysia, and Lebanon.

Fierce clashes between the Syrian Armed Forces and Nusra militants were also reported at the towns of Ghannam and Al-Rubiyah in Northern Lattakia.
