Protest across Pakistan for Shia missing persons from April 2, according to the Joint Action Committee (JAC) for Shia missing persons.

The families of victims of enforced disappearance and JAC leaders addressed a joint press conference on Sunday.

They warned of the countrywide protest from April 2 if their loved ones don’t reach homes prior to end of March 2021.

Allama Mubashir Hassan, Allama Aqeel Moosa and Allama Sadiq Jafari, and other leaders spoke.

They expressed grave concern over the non-recovery of innocent Shia victims.

They lamented non-seriousness of government and state institutions in their recovery.

Furthermore, they said despite repeated assurances from the authorities the missing persons had not returned to their home.

They said nobody told families of their whereabouts.

Moreover, Shia Islamic parties’ leaders said their concern has heightened due to the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic.

Under the current circumstances, they said, the recovery of missing persons has put strain on our patience.

The JAC leaders further warned that the families of the victims of enforced disappearances will protest across the country from April 2, if demands not met.

Moreover, they said they had reached out to every powerful authority, including state institutions.

Unfortunately, they added, nothing positive happened so far.

They noted discrimination on the basis of sect, religion or creed as a cruel act and the worst violation of the Constitution and the law.

People who have been picked up from their homes, if involved in any crime, should be brought before the courts as per the Constitution and law.

They further said that despite repeated assurances from the agencies concerned the missing persons still remain untraceable.
