Shia scholars and senior prayer leaders staged a demonstration outside Karachi Press Club on Thursday to protest against the unjust Saudi monarchy’s verdict against Shia leader Ayatollah Sheikh Baqir al-Nimr for his peaceful political and democratic struggle.

Haiyat Aimma Masajid wa Ulema-e-Imamia organised the protest in which their supporters also registered their protest. Carrying banners and placards, they demanded withdrawal of the unjust Saudi verdict and immediate release of Ayatollah Sheikh Baqir al-Nimr.

Hujjat ul Islam Shaikh Hassan Salahuddin and Hujjat ul Islam Baqar Zaidi of the MWM, Maulana Jafar Subhani of the SUC, Maulana Naeem ul Hassan and other senior scholars participated in the demonstration.

The supporters of Hijazi Shia leader Ayatollah Baqar al-Nimr also appealed to Pakistani Deobandi scholars to pressurize the Saudi monarchy for release of Ayatollah al-Nimr forthwith. They said that Saudi monarchy was a biased regime and it imposed its intolerant anti-Islam ideology in the garb of Islam.
