Civilians resume daily activities in Syrian border town of Tel Abyad

Civilians in the Syrian border town of Tel Abyad went about their daily activities on Saturday (October 26), after Turkey seized control of the town.

Pro-Turkish government newspaper Yeni Safak said on Friday that life would “normalize” in the Tel Abyad and Ras Al Ain towns now that Turkey has taken control of the area.

The town has been one of the main focal points of the Turkish offensive against the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces.

A plan agreed between Turkey and Russia this week envisages Syrian Kurdish YPG fighters being removed from a 30 km (19 mile) strip of territory along the Turkish border and Syrian refugees in Turkey being allowed to return there.
