Ghadir Khumm Is the Foundation of Islam’s Intellectual, Doctrinal, and Political System, Says Martyr Leader Ayatollah al-Uzma Sayyid Ali Khamenei

According to Shiite News, the Event of Ghadir is a shining chapter in Islamic history. It is not merely a historical incident but one of the fundamental pillars of Islam’s intellectual, doctrinal, and political system.

In light of the thoughts of Martyr Leader Ayatollah al-Uzma Sayyid Ali Khamenei, Ghadir represents the eternal principle of Wilayah (Guardianship) and Imamate, which guarantees the guidance of the Muslim Ummah, the continuity of Islamic governance, and the preservation of the true spirit of Islam.

The teachings of the Holy Quran and the guidance of the Ahlul Bayt (A.S.) make it clear that Ghadir cannot be viewed solely as a historical event. Rather, it symbolizes the Ummah’s loyalty to divine leadership and the complete system of guidance provided by Islam.

Martyr Leader Ayatollah al-Uzma Sayyid Ali Khamenei regarded Ghadir as the continuation of Islam’s political authority and emphasized highlighting its significance and greatness. In his view, Ghadir is a standard and criterion that should remain before Muslims until the Day of Judgment so that they can correctly recognize the collective path of the Ummah and their religious responsibilities.

The Martyr Leader stated that if the guidance and planning of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) regarding Ghadir had been implemented during the early Islamic era, the course of human history would undoubtedly have been different. According to him, Ghadir leaves no room in Islamic society for personal rule, hereditary monarchy, or governance based on individual interests.
