Pakistan has no threat from the border with Iran: Pak Army spokesman

Pakistan has no threat from the border with Iran. Pakistan-Iran border is border of peace and it cannot be equated with Pakistan border with India, said spokesman of the Pakistan Army Major General Asif Ghafoor at a press conference on Monday.

“Militaries of the two countries (Pakistan and Iran) have excellent cooperation to maintain security and peace in border region,” says DG ISPR.

“Militaries of the two countries (Pakistan and Iran) have excellent cooperation to maintain security and peace in border region,” he said.

Director General Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that Pakistan has increased the number of troops along joint border with Iran.

“We have not only increased the number of our forces on the border, but also increased surveillance of sensitive points on the border misused by terrorists and miscreants,” he said.

He said it answering questions. Frontier Crops is a force to ensure peace and security of Balochistan province. He said nowadays they are also guarding border with Iran.

DG ISPR said FC force is divided into two parts North and South. He said the southern FC is responsible for maintaining peace on joint border with Iran.

Afghanistan war fall out

He said there was foreign influence in Afghanistan since the last 40 years; first with Russian forces and then with coalition forces led by the US.

The impact of the Afghan war in 1979 and revolution in Iran led to Madrasas opening in Pakistan. “Terrorism and militancy started to seep into our society.”

Other Issues also elaborated

DG ISPR also spoke on PTM, religious seminaries, banned outfits, National Action Plan and regional issues. He also spoke on war mongering India and Afghanistan issue.

Pak Army spokesman reiterated Pakistan’s stated policy that it believes in peace and good relations with all neighbourig countries.
