Lahore police register FIR against Shia Muslim for Majlis in Gulberg

A case was registered against a Shia Muslim resident of Lahore’s Gulberg town where he hosted a Majlis (mourning congregation) inside his house to pay homage to Imam Hussain-led great Martyrs of Karbala but that ended one hour behind the schedule.

No change of policy towards Shia Muslims has been seen even during Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s tenure in the federal and Punjab governments because similar biased policy was being pursued during the tenure of its predecessor PML-N’s government.
Case was registered against Captain Zulfiqar by Lahore’s Ghalib Market police station. The FIR said that he ended the Majlis one hour late than what he told to the administration. The FIR also mentioned bringing out alam pak out of his house.
Holding mourning congregation inside house or taking out alam in the street is not a crime but biased administration had imposed restrictions on Shia rituals in what appeared to please their anti-Shia Saudi masters who don’t allow azadari to Shia Muslims even in Shia majority areas of Saudi Arabia.
