Shiites of Karachi stage 7-hours sit-in to protest against Shia genocide

MWM-token-sit-in-Karachi23-05-2014Shia Muslims of Karachi staged a token sit-in that lasted for 7 hours on main M.A. Jinnah Road in protest against unabated Shia genocide in Pakistan mainly in Karachi.

Main sit-in was staged at Numaish Chowrangi on main M.A. Jinnah Road where thousands of the supporters expressed solidarity with the heirs of the martyr Shiites who also joined the protest.

Allama Raja Nasir Abbas Jafari, head of the Majlis-e-Wahdat-e-Muslimeen, leading Shia party of Pakistan, called for observance of Friday as a day of protest and condemnation in reaction to the ongoing unabated Shia genocide, Shiite News Correspondent reported.

Speaking to the protestors at the Karachi sit-in, Allama Ahmed Iqbal, Allama Sadiq Raza Taqvi, Maulana Ali Anwar, Maulana Ali Afzaal Rizvi, Allama Mubashir Hassan, Ali Hussain Naqvi and other officials of the MWM said that since targeted operation began in Karachi in September 2013 to date, more than 120 Shia Muslims were murdered in the City. He said among them were eminent scholars, doctors, lawyers, engineers. Trends show that now businessmen are soft targets that terrorists have focused on.

“The PMLN government bowed to Saudi monarchy at US dollars 1.5 billion and they are protecting the Yazidi takfiri terrorists of outlawed outfits in the name of talks with them instead of launching military operation to liquidate them. That is why Prime Minister did not invite Shia parties and leaders at the important meeting on law and order in Karachi,” Allama Ahmed Iqbal said.

The officials of the MWM also criticized the provincial governments saying they were following the federal government’s policy of inaction and appeasement. He said that the banned terrorist outfits’ leaders were accorded official protocol and this approach encouraged and emboldened the terrorists.

“Government must shoulder its responsibility because the Constitution made it obligatory on the rulers to protect the lives and properties of citizens of Pakistan and if they cannot do this job, they lack right to continue,” Allama said Raza Taqvi said.

Allama Mubashir Hassan, Engineer Raza Naqvi, Maulana Ali Anwar, Ali Hussain and Allama Jafar Raza said that the MWM disbelieved in unconstitutional means to replace the biased government but MWM would mobilize public opinion for ouster of the government of the fraudsters who have no respect for the Constitution and those were installed to serve the proxy interests of their masters.

Shiite News Correspondent said in his report that the token sit-in ended peacefully at midnight between Friday and Saturday. Police and rangers had intensified security around the venue.
