Army chief, Egyptian leadership vow to synergise efforts in fighting terrorism

Army chief General Raheel Sharif met Egyptian leadership on Monday and discussed military to military relations, enhanced security collaboration and training exchanges between the countries.

General Raheel met Defence Minister and Chief of Staff separately after he arrived in Cairo as part of his two-day official visit to the country, said the ISPR.

Both sides vowed to synergise all efforts and resources to fight and eliminate terrorism, added the military’s media wing.

Egyptian leaders expressed specific interest in benefiting from Pakistan Army’s experience in all facets of fighting terrorism including countering IED [improvised explosive devices].

Earlier upon arrival at the army headquarters, the army chief was given a guard of honour by the Egyptian military.

Pakistan Army has been engaged in fighting the militants under the banner of Operation Zarb-e-Azb since June 15, 2014 to purge the country of terrorist elements and curb their resources of re-enforcement.
