Five terrorists Of Notorious Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) – including its Karachi chief – were killed and two Rangers personnel were injured in an encounter held between Rangers personnel and Outlawed Taliban terrorists in Kemari area on Wednesday.
Rangers personnel raided a house on information of militants planning to target the city’s Expo Centre in a bomb attack.
During the search, militants fired at Rangers personnel and hurled hand grenades. The clash left TTP’s Karachi commander Ilyas Kashmiri and his four accomplices dead.
A large cache of arms was recovered from the premises, comprising hand grenades, Kalashnikovs, bullets and ammunition.
Security forces have intensified their efforts to rid the city of terrorism under the implementation of the National Action Plan.
The outlawed Taliban terrorists have enjoyed the support of seminaries and banned outfits like ASWJ ( AhleSunnat Wal Jamaat) in Karachi to get safe-havens and logistics support from them in their anti-State attacks and killings of their opponents.
