Anti terrorist court judge and family members killed in terrorist attack in KP (Khyber Pakhtunkhwa) province on Sunday.

The gunmen targeted the judge of a Swat anti terrorism court (ATC) and his family members in their car near the Ambar Interchange.

According to police ATC Judge Aftab Afridi, his wife, grandson and daughter-in-law, were travelling from Peshawar to Islamabad via Swabi.

Targeted fire at them left them dead, while two security guards, part of the judge’s convoy also suffered injuries.

Gory killing occurred in the jurisdiction of Chota Lahore Police Station.

A police official, speaking on condition of anonymity because not authorized to speak to the media, said that it appeared a targeted attack.

He further said that the assailants fled the scene after the attack.

Meanwhile, District Police Officer (DPO) Mohammad Shoaib said that police teams had reached the site. They started investigations into the attack.

Moreover, the KP IGP Dr Sanaullah Abbasi also rushed to the site.

DPO Shoaib further said that a son and other relatives of the slain judge had reached Swabi. Police will register an FIR of the killing once they give a statement.

However, the family didn’t rule out possibility of personal enmity as the motive behind the killing.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Imran Khan condemned the killing.

He vowed to ensure apprehending the perpetrators of this gruesome act and dealt with them with full severity of the law.
