Noble notable of Makkah and chieftain of Bani Hashim tribe of Quraysh took the guardianship of his nephew Mohammad (s) and greatly supported him during his mission.
Pakistanis mourn death anniversary of Hazrat Abu Talib
Hazrat Abu Talib penned poems which had many verses that showed his belief in Islam and the prophethood of this nephew Mohammad (PBUH).
He passed away on Rajab 26, 4 B.H./March 19, 619 and was buried in Mecca beside the grave of his father, ‘Abd al-Muttalib (a), in al-Hajun Cemetery.
According to Islamic history books, Prophet Mohammad named that year the year of grief during which his uncle Abu Talib (AS) and Bibi Khadijatul Kubra (AS) had passed away.
Due to that, Shia Muslims observe anniversary of his passing away every year.
Similarly, they also observe anniversary of Bibi Khadija, the mother of faithful.
