He discussed this issue, while addressing Shia Ulema wa Zakireen-e-Imamia Convention, held under the aegis of Haiyat-e-Aimma Masajid wa Ulema-e-Imamia Pakistan in Karachi on Saturday.
Allama Syed Shahenshah Naqvi said that intelligentsia should check who have remained engaged in takfiri hate-speeches, hatemongering and pogrom.
Shia Ulema and Zakireen Convention responds to hatemongering sectarian chauvinism with warnings
He said Shia Muslims in Pakistan have suffered from genocide and pogrom. Shia Muslims shouldered thousands of coffins of Shia martyrs but never went against humane Islamic teachings.
Allama Naqvi asked who authorized takfiris to declare Shia Muslims as kafir (heathen)? He said Pakistan cannot endure sectarianism, tension and mischiefs.
He said Shia Islamic leadership and the entire community believe in intra-Muslim Sunni-Shia unity and peaceful co-existence with mutual respect and fraternity.
However, he rejected tactics to force Shia Muslims to respect Umayyad dynastic tyrants and despots which he vowed Shias would never do.
Allama Shahenshah Naqvi said that Shia Muslims have complete record (of anti Shia hate speeches) and he cited speeches of some Deobandi clerics against Hazrat Abu Talib. However, he said Shias didn’t go to police for filing FIRs on that issue but now others compel Shias to do so.
He urged Shias to ensure that no irresponsible person use their platform to make any sort of irresponsible statements. He asked them to convince him not to indulge in such irresponsible act; and if the latter don’t repent, Shias should part ways with him.
He also announced to challenge FIRs against two Shia notables in Karachi because they were booked under false charges.
Shia Islamic scholar reiterated pledge that Shia Muslims would defend Pakistan in case of attack from enemies.
Blasphemous caricature of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH)
The Shia convention also condemned blasphemous caricature of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) which French magazine Charlie Hebdo reprinted.
Shia leadership also condemned desecration of Holy Quran in Sweden. They vowed to continue to observe azadari or mourning in commemoration of Imam Hussain-led Martyrs of Karbala.
They also condemned atrocities against Palestinians and Kashmiris.
Furthermore, they paid tributes to Martyrs of Pakistan to mark the Defence and Martyrs Day (6th September).
