Several azadars injured in police tear gas shelling, baton-charge

phpThumb generated thumbnailjpgGarh-Maharajah: Several azadars were injured due to police baton-charge and teargas shelling in Jhang district’s area of Malik Addah Garh Maharajah.

Several women and children also fell victims due to stampede ensued by the baton-charge and teargas shelling.

Reports gathered here say that a mourning procession was taken out in commemoration of chehlum of Imam Hussain (A.S.). Matami sangat from

surrounding areas too participated in the chehlum procession that reached the Imam Bargah as per schedule.

One matami sangat couldn’t reach on time and insisted for matamdari. Police stopped them but matami sangat’s saalaar informed police of the reason behind delay. Police officer got enraged and asked them to disperse.

Then, police started baton charge and also resorted to teargas shelling.
Later, processionists surrounded the police station Garh Maharajah and raised slogans against them. They demanded of the Punjab Government and DPO Jhang that SHO Garh Maharajah Police station should be dismissed forthwith and injured victims be provided medical treatment at government’s expenses.

In commemoration of anniversaries of death/martyrdom of Khatam al Anbiya Hazrat Muhammad (S.A.W.W.) and Imam Hassan (A.S.), a mourning procession is brought out on 28th Safar every year. Tension prevails in the area.

Allama Sajid Naqvi’s spokesman said that action be taken against those who conducted baton charged and teargas shelling. He said it was tantamount to deprive azadars of their Constitutional, legal, lawful, religious and civil rights and liberties.

He said that partial administration must be reined and lawlessness should be brought to an end.
