Final Date for U.S. Military Withdrawal from Iraq Set for September 30
Shiite News: A senior U.S. official has said that the United States expects to complete the withdrawal of all its military presence from Iraqi territory by September 30.
The official added that following the withdrawal of U.S. forces, full responsibility and leadership for combating terrorist groups in the region would be handed over to the Iraqi Security Forces, the Peshmerga, and security institutions in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.
In this regard, Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zubaidi also said that September 30 would be the final and irreversible date for the conclusion of the international coalition’s mission in Iraq. He clarified that no foreign forces would remain in Iraq from October 1.
