Senior Iranian and Iraqi security officials have highlighted the role of the Resistance Front in establishing security in the region, emphasizing the need to expand bilateral cooperation in the face of common threats.

Ali Bagheri Kani, Deputy for Foreign Policy and International Security at the Secretariat of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, met with Qasim al-Araji, National Security Advisor of Iraq, on the sidelines of the 14th International Meeting of High Representatives on Security in Moscow on Tuesday.

During the meeting, Bagheri Kani called on Baghdad to take decisive measures to prevent Iraq’s geography and territory from becoming a source of threats against Iran.

He said the root causes of such threats must be eliminated and that the Islamic Republic of Iran is ready to provide any active cooperation in this regard.

Bagheri Kani also pointed to the joint conspiracy by the United States and terrorists based in the Kurdistan Region to expand the war against the Iranian nation, emphasizing that the Islamic Republic will show no leniency toward any threat to its national security, and that this threat must be eradicated immediately.

Referring to the destabilizing role of the US and Israel in the region, Bagheri Kani stated, “Resistance groups have always been a factor in establishing stability and security in the region.”

On February 28, the United States and Israel initiated a large-scale and unprovoked war against Iran with the assassination of Iran’s Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei and several high-ranking military commanders.

In response, the Iranian Armed Forces carried out 100 waves of counterattacks over 40 days, targeting US and Israeli military assets, which resulted in significant damage.

Qasim al-Araji condemned the US-Israeli military aggression against Iran and reaffirmed Iraq’s readiness to cooperate with Iran to fundamentally resolve these threats.

He added that Iraq opposes any activity that threatens Iran’s security.

Meanwhile, Bagheri Kani also told reporters that Iran’s ideas and initiatives on multilateralism would be presented at the 14th international gathering of senior security officials in Moscow.

He noted that the annual meeting, hosted by Russia, provides an excellent platform for shaping the pillars of security within a multilateral framework.

Highlighting Iran and Russia’s concurrent membership in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and BRICS, Bagheri Kani explained that the SCO is an international organization with political and military dimensions, while BRICS operates in trade and international cooperation.

He praised the Russian initiative to bring countries together outside the framework of US unilateralism, enabling them to independently discuss security systems that can bring stability, peace, and security to the world.

Bagheri Kani described Iran as a leading country in multilateralism, bringing ideas and initiatives across security, political, and economic fields to strengthen the multilateral system.

He expressed hope that such consultations would lead to the formation of a clear and independent framework for countries to safeguard their stability and security without allowing US bullying and excessive demands to harm the security and interests of independent nations.

Bagheri Kani arrived in Moscow on Tuesday morning to participate in the 14th International Meeting of High Representatives on Security. In addition to addressing the conference, he is scheduled to meet with several Russian political and security officials.

The international forum aims to enhance practical cooperation between countries and provide a comprehensive, non-politicized discussion of the most pressing security issues.

According to a Russian deputy security council secretary, developments in West Asia, especially following the illegal military aggression against Iran, will be a central focus.
